Small shared libraries

Shared libraries only start downloading to your computer when the movie it is linked to asks for one of its assets (wanting to display it). Depending on the size of the asset or the size of the library itself, it could happen the shared library isn't downloaded in time to display its assets properly.

If your shared library isn't large at all (i.e. 50k), you could:

  • Do nothing.. 9 out of 10 times it'll still work ok.
  • Drag one the library's assets onto the first frame of the linked movie. Presuming you are preloading this movie, make sure the library's asset is asked for before or during preloading. By doing this, the shared library starts downloading from the server in time.. Use a mask or one of its properties (i.e. alpha or position (x=-1000)) to hide the asset..

Asset: All the stuff you can put into a library: Audio, graphics, symbols.. etc.
