To improve you're animation it is better to make your character and make its parts(hand,leg,face)in differnt position as a MC(movie clip). So when ever you want to try to make it animate/or you can just select the swap symbol in the modify panel on the top of the main flash screen.
It will also be better if you create all the motions before you start your animation. For example like make your guy run in a MC, make him walk in one MC, make him talk in one MC..... stuff like that so later you can just swap ir just put it there.
