Okay, we've all become experts at actionscript, and the more "technical" side of Flash...well, I am still working on that actually. But I found a very simple way to CROP those images you imported inside of flash and not need to go back and forth between your favorite image editing software.
Here's how:
- Start new project. (duh)
- Click on FILE_IMPORT (or Ctrl+R)
- Find your image and click to import 4. Then with your image on the work area, click on it once to select it.
- Then go to MODIFY_BREAK APART (or Ctrl+B)
- Now drag a selection box over the area of the image you wish to crop and hit delete.
- Boom! You did it!
I know this might be obvious to some people and a revelation to others. I just hope it is helpful to someone. I know I have worked with Flash for 5+ years and just acccidentally figured this out since Macromedia makes no mention of cropping images in their help files. I also did a little searching on the web and found no mention of it.
Have fun and keep up the good work!

ReplyGood way to delete
Posted by vailixi T on 08/09/2012 02:48pmThis does not cropping. This is how you delete a selection. After step 5., move the selection out of the way and then delete the rest. Cheers VT
