Getting started
After being asked to blur the edges on a scrolling text mask. I struggled some finding a way to make it look just right. I'll take you through a step-by-step through a good process I've discovered. The result of this can be found at our company website at http://www.aspenmarketingtechnology.com. This tutorial assumes some knowledge of Photoshop and Flash. Although probably any image editing program may work.

Step 1: Photoshop image
First open Photoshop and create a new RGB image at 150x300 pixels. You will fill the area with a gradient like the one shown vertically. Black on the edges and 2 white fills in the middle as shown. Space the white out depending on how much space you want to leave for display. You'll have to experiment to get it how you want.
