Advanced Animated Masking
Here is an example of one of my advanced animated masking techniques. I also use image perspective to create a sense of three dimentional depth to the animation. The best way to see how I did it is to just download the files and look at how I manipulated the masking layers.
Note: In this example I use the same mask that 'paints' the car to also make the virtual 'wall' seem to go through the car.
Basically it is just a matter of animating the mask layer in such a way that it seems to 'paint' (or unpaint) the masked layer. I usually do a shape motion tween from the start frame to finish frame, and then add intermediate frames to refine the animated mask. Adding intermediate refinement frames is as simple as just doing an 'insert frame' where you want to refine the mask.
