Create the mask movieclip

Open a new movie with size width=200, height=150, with background color set to black.

Create a new graphic symbol (let's call it gr_square) of a square with a dimension of 8 x 8 pixels. Choose a color so that you can see it on a black background.

Create a movieclip symbol (let's call it mv_bar). Drag 6 instances of gr_square into the movieclip. Align them vertically with the upper left corner of each square separated from the one immediate below it by 10 pixels. The upper left corner of the topmost square should be at x=0, y=0.
