Part 1: Introduction
You must have seen this before. If you have, you would be amazed. This isn't very common, but after sometime it would be. That's because most of web designers would want a beam of light flash through their logo, if they have a Flash-based web site. Some even want it to have a sparkling star. Whatever it is, this tutorial would show you both: the shine and the shine with the sparkle.
I included some sound I made myself in the Zip file you can download at the left column. It's in WAV format. I do all my work on a PC, so if you are doing this on a Mac, as long as you have QuickTime, you can still import WAV in Flash. The Zip file includes the FLA file I used for the demonstration below, the SWF file (demonstration), another FLA file with the sparkle, and the sound. The sound comprises of "ding.wav", which is the sparkle sound, and "shining.wav", which is the sound for the light. You can choose not to have sound or use your own, but I've included them anyway. Oh, Mac users, I've also included those in MP3 format so that you can hear them even before you import them to Flash. Here's what you're gonna do:
I purposely changed the background to sky blue so that you can still see the sparkle, but in your Flash movie it must be a very dark color, black if possible. If you choose some light color, chances are the people who watch your movie will not be able to see the sparkle, if you want one. And one thing: if your logo's colour is very light, when it is shined, the shine may not be seen. So if your movie is like this, I suggest you change the colors.
