One of the most impressive features is the visual guideline. Containing over 500 individual screenshots, I know 'cause I counted, to help you keep track of your progress. Personally, I hadn't worked with Director before this book and was skeptical because I'm a more visual person. Always having a hard time gettting through technical mumbo-jumbo. But if this ever occured, only once actually, I knew where I should be because of such detailed visuals.
Another significant feature is the case study. With Foundation you create your own usable game. Going through the entire process. Planning, creation, animating, testing and distribution. If you'd like to check out the project, it's available for download from the Friends of ED website as are all the source files used in the chapters.
