ActionScript Development Tools
ActionScript was the turning point for Flash. It enabled designers with little or no programming experience to use conditional logic and manipulate object properties at run time. Flash 5 now sports a fully matured scripting language based on Javascript, which still retains the basic actions that we designers have come to love but also delivers all the power of a object oriented scripting language.
The ActionScript editor is another welcomed addition. The Flash 4 ActionScript window was like trying to view the world through a crack in the wall. The lads at Macromedia have put their heads together and come up with this great editor. The resizable window comes complete with every action, function, operator, object and property in the book too!
The ActionScript can be cut and pasted or exported to an ASCII file, which can then be edited using a text editor then imported back in. Macromedia has also built a debugger to help you develop complex applications
