The Authoring Environment

On the face of it, Flash 5, looks very impressive. The tool bar sports a new addition, the bezier pen tool and the color panel in the toolbar now comes with a button to reverse the foreground color with the background color. (I've seen that functionality before somewhere :)

Macromedia has also created a Dreamweaver-esque launcher bar at the bottom of the movie window, a big time saver when you consider how much time you spend using Flash.

One of the best usability additions is of course the panels, one of the biggest issues many had with Flash 4 was the over reliance on dialog boxes hidden behind objects. Macromedia has finally made Flash come out of the usability closet and delivered all the functions at the click of a mouse.
