Although the ActionScript code for this tutorial is written differently than Mick's Flash 4 tute, the same abstraction concepts still apply. When dragging scroll_shape, we want the changes in the shape's _y position to continuously update the _y position of our target MC. Since the height, or length (both terms are interchangeable since we are only scrolling vertically) of the target MC is most likely NOT the same height/length as scroll_bar, a percentages equation is what we want. This percentages equation must live inside our (scroll_)logic loop MC in order for the _y changes to be updated continuously. However, first of all we will establish some variable names and equality expressions to be utilized in the percentages equation. We will set up these initializing parameters in Frame 1 of the main timeline, on the functions layer. With Flash 5's new object oriented ActionScript syntax, the code ends up looking like this:
