Introduction The key to this trick is the use of the Tell Target action and a hidden 'engine' movie clip which drives the rewind function. When the button is pressed the engine clip tells the main timeline to regress by playing the current frame-1 until you let go of the mouse. At this point the normal flow of the movie takes over and plays it forward again. To re-create something that resembles the example, you must first create the main movie. To make it easy on your self try something that returns to its original position. In my example I went a little over board so when you do yours keep is simple and just concentrate on the arrow button and the object that will rotate (eg the hand of a clock). Create the clock face and the hand. To make the hand, I created a propeller then made the alpha=0% for one side and converted the whole image into a symbol like this:
This created a balanced object with the centre of gravity (ie the registration mark) on the red dot. Thus when you applyed a motion-tween to it and set the rotation to clockwise for one time only, (see the dialog box below) the hand appeared to be travelling around the face.
