The Main Timeline

Go back to the main timeline by clicking on Scene 1 at the top of the timeline. Open the library by pressing CTRL and L / CMD and L and your backgrounds MC will be there! Click on the icon and drag it onto the stage. Don't worry if it doesn't fit, just rescale it with the Scale mouse tool (on the drawing toolbar). Open up the instance panel (CTRL and I / CMD and I) and type in Back for the instance name, this is important as you'll find out later. Name this layer Background.

Remeber to call the backgrounds MC Back in the instance panel. DO IT NOW! if you don't, your movie will not work.

Create a new layer and call it selector. Either create a new button or open up the Common Libraries (Window >> Common Libraries >> Buttons) and drag one out from there. You need to have two buttons, one for the next background and one for the previous. These buttons will allow the user to change the background. Put a text feild on this layer, and open up the Charactor window. Click on the Text Options tab, and change Static Text to Input Text, and type in textName for the variable. This textbox will tell the user what you have called the background.

Create another new layer and call it Variables. This is where the initial background information is stored. This also holds the information that tells Flash what each background is called, so that it can tell the user.
