Now you want to select Window and Effect from the top menu This will open a text parameters window like this one
With the Effects tab selected you can click on the drop down button to the right and mouse over the Bevel and Emboss which will then open another menu there you will need to select Outer Bevel. This will apply a bevel and open a parameters box within your effect window. There you can choose the color of your bevel and its size and direction.
As you can see I have selected the bevel to be the same color as the rest of my button above.
