Important
At this point you have a button on your canvas but the canvas size is way to big. When exporting this button fireworks will export the entire canvas size and obviously you don't want that to happen. So highlight your button and click on Edit and Copy. This copies the button into your clipboard. Now select File and New once again. Fireworks will automatically set the parameters on your new canvas to match the exact size of your information in your clipboard (Great feature of Fireworks). You will now have a new window exactly the correct size just paste your button to it. It will look like this

You can now close the BIG canvas and button with no need to save it. At this point I would go ahead and save your button in fireworks format, in case you want to come back and make other buttons just like this one with other text in the button. That is also easy to do just double click the button and change the text. It is easy and quick to make all instances of the button.

| I work out of my home as a freelance website designer and developer. I work everyday with Fireworks and Flash 5, And have discovered the use of Fireworks for creating graphics and especially for creating buttons for flash works great. |
