Introduction

This is the first tutorial in the series and is directed at beginners. It will introduce a very simple new feature of Flash 5 - Hiding the cursor. Combined with the Movie clip object's new "startDrag" method you can customize your cursor by creating your own movie clip to perform the role.

But just making a custom cursor will quickly become boring, which is where part II of the series comes in - The interactive mouse cursor - A mouse cursor that interacts with your mouse movements.

There are three simple steps to creating a simple custom cursor:

  1. Making the Cursor Movie Clip
  2. Putting it on the Main Timeline
  3. Adding The Actions

So let's dive in!
