About Layers

To begin with, a new Flash movie only contains one layer. The picture below is a screenshot of Flash 4 and shows you the part of the authoring environment where you can control your layers. It will allow you to add, delete and change the order of your layers!

Hint: Layers don't affect the file size of your final movie. The number that can be created is determined only by the memory in your computer.

Hint: Separate your objects by placing them individually on their own layer. You can also use layers to organise your sound and actions. You'll find this will make it easier to find and edit the various aspects of your movie.
