5. Your default is ON!!!
Let us consider the consequences of this.... every flash movie is now printable. So if you are developing your latest and greatest you may like to test it, test it, test it, by printing out your movies. If it doesn't look good you can either modify your movie or disable the print command in the source or through your HTML code by turning off the context menu.
All things considered, Printing from Flash is definitely a step forward for the web. Interactive animations with printable content opens new doors in web marketing, brand differentiation and creating really funky sites. Have a look at this banner ad to see what I mean.
Note: This now works in Netscape 4.7. There is a bug in the Printing SDK from Macromedia who are in the process of fixing it. The SDK works on IE5 but not in Netscape. Mike Weiland from certifcatecreator.com has recently solved it and posted an update. The problem, he said, was a bug in the plug-in that ignores the _framesloaded command and proceeds to print the file without it being fully loaded. If you play the file locally or from a server from inside your firewall it will print, but from a remote server you will get the error.
The possibilities here are only limited by your imagination. So until your imagination kicks in, let's wade deeper into this new function in the next tutorial, Printing in Flash.
