Terminology II
And here's some more terms....
Mass - A shape that appears to stand out in 3D.
Naturalism - The approach to art that leaves all personal interpretation out of the art.
Negative Area - The unoccupied space left after all the Positive elements have been placed on the picture plane.
Objective Art - Art that is based on the physical properties or optical perception.
Optical Perception - A way of seeing in which the mind has another function other than the natural one of providing the visual sensation of object recognition
Picture Frame - the boundary line of the picture plane
Picture Plane - the actual surface that the artist does the work on.
Plastic Art - The use of elements to create the illusion of the third dimension and three dimensional art its self.
