Using the Grid
To use the Flash 4 grid, choose Modify > Movie. In the dialog box you can choose to show the grid by checking the box and you can also specify the grid spacing. In Future to turn the grid and the snap options on or off, choose View > Grid and/or View > Snap.
To turn a layer into a Guide layer, right click on the layer and select "Guide" from the menu that pops up. You will notice that the icon before the layer name changes to the guide icon.
Advanced: You can also add a Guide layer by clicking the "Add Guide Layer" icon below the layers, next to the "Add Layer" icon. However this will generate a Motion Guide Layer for Layer 1 which differ slightly to a normal Guide layer. Motion Guides are dealt with in their own tutorial. To turn this new motion guide layer into a simple guide layer just drag it under layer 1. You will notice the change in the layer icons before the layer name.
