The Other Way of Controlling Alpha

Now let’s look at the other (just as common) way of controlling the alpha value of a symbol. Make a new Flash document. Create a new symbol with a good-sized shape. Place it on the stage and select it. If you don’t already have it open, open the properties panel (CTRL + F3/Apple + F3 on a Mac). See where it says “Color” and drop-down box? Click the drop-down box, and select Alpha. Then, set the alpha to what ever you want. The advantage to controlling Alpha with actionscript is that it’s completely dynamic, although it’s sometimes just easier to use the second way. On the next page, we’ll learn how to fade a symbol in Flash.

» Description: Hmm... what to say about this one? It's reminiscent of the closing notes of the opening music from the Three Stooges done in a church organ style with a closing cymbal crash. I'll give this one away gratis, but feel free to check out my free loops and potential upcoming license-mandated ones over in the respective part of Flashkit.
