Step1: Create a movie clip.
Step2: Right click> actions.
Step3: Copy and paste the following code.

speed = 2;
}
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (key.isdown(key.RIGHT)) {
_rotation = 90;
_x+= speed;
}
if (key.isdown(key.LEFT)) {
_rotation = 270;
_x-= speed;
}
if (key.isdown(key.UP)) {
_rotation = 0;
_y-= speed;
}
if (key.isdown(key.DOWN)) {
_rotation = 180;
_y+= speed;
}

(This sets all round speed and direction of object upon pressing the appropriate key)

Step4: Click on the }.
Step5: Copy and paste the following code.

if (key.isdown(key.RIGHT) && key.isdown(key.UP)) {
_rotation = 45;
}
if (key.isdown(key.LEFT) && key.isdown(key.UP)) {
_rotation = 315;
}
if (key.isdown(key.RIGHT) && key.isdown(key.DOWN)) {
_rotation = 135;
}
if (key.isdown(key.LEFT) && key.isdown(key.DOWN)) {
_rotation = 225;
}
}

(This tells it that if two buttons are being pressed, go in a diagonal)

Step6: Control> Test Movie
