hitTests

Aaanyway, theres one more type of hitTest, which is simpler, and useful for "hotspots" to go to a different frame (like walking out of a shop in a game or walking into a forest etc..). You will find one or two games on this site where you can see this in action. For these, I get the hotspot to check if it has a character on it, rather than the character having code to test and respond for every single hotspot in the game.

I would tend to make a box, then add script like

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if(this.hitTest(_root.map.char)){
_root.gotoAndStop("store");
}
}

then put a picture of a store over it so you cant see the box.

_root.map.char is the instance name of the user controlled character.
