Put that code in each frame on the Actions layer.

Now go back to the Character layer. Here, we'll have two frames for each direction he walks in (one frame for standing and one frame of him walking). In frame 2 put he MC of the character WALKING up. In frame 3 put the MC of character standing, facing down. NOT walking down. Instead, put the MC of him walking down in frame 4. Keeping this pattern make frames 5 and 6 of him facing and walking left, and 7 and 8 of him facing and walking right.

Remember to periodically save your work just in case.
