function checkPowerUps(){
if(powers.invincible==true){
char._alpha = 50
} else {
char._alpha = 100
}
if(powers.badBaddy==true){
energy -= levels[levelName].baddyPower
}
if(powers.helper==true){
helperSpeed = 5
helperClip._visible = true
}
if(powers.wipeOut==true){
loadLevel()
powers.wipeOut = false
}
}
OK, now that wasn't so hard, was it? Basically, we just check for all the powerUps that we didn't check for already in other functions. If the player is invincible, he is half transparent. This is just a visual thing to make the game cooler. Then we check to see if the powerUp called badBaddy is set to true. If it is, the player constantly loses energy. Note that this is according to the baddyPower variable. Then we check to see if the helper power is set to true. If it is, the helper is visible and his speed is set to five. Finally, if the wipeOut power is in use, we load the next level and set the wipeOut variable to false(wouldn't want to have the player constantly beating levels!) Now let's check for all the other variables that we set, so that the game actually works!
