Ok, ive put alot of time in to make this tutorial, so please accually make the game, not just download it. You can download it though.

1. Making the timer:
first, make a new movie clip. In that movie clip, make a bar. click on the fill-in, and copy & paste it into a new layer. on the layer that the fill-in is in, click on the first frame and set it with motion-tween. insert a new keyframe on the layer with the fill-in, and resize the bar, to the end of the bottom layer; the one with the outline. pull the motion-tweened layers second keyframe up as far as you want. the further you pull it, the more time there is. after you have done that insert a keyframe (on the outline layer) right where the frame you put the motion-tweened layer on, so that the outline is on all the frames (if you get what i mean). On the last frame (doesnt matter what layer) put these actions in:

   tellTarget ("_parent.") {gotoAndStop("loose");}

Get out of the movie clip, and inset a blank keyframe, and lable the frame "loose".
