Ok, heres how Hotspots usually work:
When a certain Movie Clip Comes into contact with another Movie clip Flash is told to go to a certain frame.
Here is how you do it:
Open up Flash MX / MX 2004
Now, create a Movie Clip with an instance name of character
Give it the following script:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (Key.isDown(Key.LEFT)) {
_x = _x-10;
}
if (Key.isDown(Key.UP)) {
_y = _y-10;
}
if (Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)) {
_x = _x+10;
}
if (Key.isDown(Key.DOWN)) {
_y = _y+10;
}
}
This will allow it to move about
Now, create the Hotspot, it could be a store, to an invisible rectangle. Now, turn it into a MC and give it an instance name of Store.
Back to our character, give it the following script:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (this.hitTest(_root.Store)) {
_root.gotoAndStop(2);
}
}
Thats it, youre done! If it doesnt work check out my FLA provided or Email me at Corkysurprise@aol.com
DONT FORGET! Flash cant take you to frame 2 if it doesnt exist, make frame 2 before emailing me and saying it doesnt work!
Good luck with Flash!
