To start off, make 2 layers, actions and everything else. To begin, make a keyframe on the first three frames of the action layer. On the first frame, insert this actionscript:

xspeed=10;
yspeed=10;

On the third Key frame insert:

gotoAndPlay(2);

Now make a paddle on the bottom of the screen and convert it to a movieclip and give it the instance name paddle. Also make a ball and convert it to a movie clip called ball, put it in the middle of the screen. On the paddle insert this actionscript:

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
 if (Key.isDown(Key.LEFT)) {
 _x-=10;
 }
}
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
 if (Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)) {
 _x+=10;
 }
}
