Introduction
Welcome to Building an Arcade Game Series of tutorials. We hope that these tutorials inspire and teach enough for you to go on and turn Flashkit's Arcade into something that resembles a procrastinators heaven, but I guess it's all ready that :). Flash Junkie will be your guest guru and guide for this series of tutorials:
- Detecting the Mouse Angle
- Weapon Manufacturing 101
- Laser Collision Checking
- Terrain Scrolling
- The Final Product
The tutorial on Detecting the Mouse Angle is some revision of high school trigonometry and the engine that drives the game. The next tutorial, Weapon Manufacturing 101 looks at the gun and the laser. In Laser Collision Checking we create the target and look at the code used to check if it has come in contact with a laser beam. After that it's just a matter of creating the scrolling terrain to end up with the finished product.
At the end of the line you will have created something like what's on the next page.
