Welcome to Building a Platform Game Part1!

By the end of these 3 tutorials you will have a basic understanding of hittest, and hopefully the beginning to your game!

I expect you to have some form of understanding of flash, but I will try to make it as basic as possible. Also I’d like to say sorry for the format of my last 3 tutorials- I wasn’t used to the system.

Let’s get going! Open up Flash MX or Flash MX 2004 (I’m getting really bored of saying this…), and create a new layer, and call it Character. Now let’s create our character. Now, you have several choices: 1) To use the one provided in the .zip file provided 2) Draw a circle 3) Have a really silly looking guy…(I’ll explain now) Unfortunately, I don’t have a simple script to make a character jump, so it will float! (Ascend) Now, create it into a Movie Clip and call it (MC and INSTANCE) “character” '
