Help Forums
Many of you will be on FK for help, please, please give as much information as possible. Anyone answering your questions are there out of their own will, so don't get anoyed with them :)
Things to remember when ever you post a problem...
Flash (or other program) version - this is very important because each version is slightly different and can do different things (Flash MX)
Browser version (if avalible) - if your query evloves a problem while on the internet or in any browser please state what verison of what you are using (Internet Explorer 6.0)
OS version and type (if avalible) - Apple OS is very different to Windows in many ways, please tell us what you have (e.g. Windows XP Home)
The Code (if avalible) - What code is in the movie? We need this so we can see if it has an error in it (e.g. <%lt%>I<%gt%>OS<%lt%>/I<%gt%>)
Coffee Lounge & Boardroom
A lot of great debates take place in the CL and the boardroom - please take part and even make your own, but please do be creative with your threads! In my time at FK I have seen 2 Coca-Cola vs. Pepsi threads, and there are 3 more that have happened before I arrived. The most common (and borning ones) are things like "Which OS is best?" and "AMD or Intel?" - you will just start a small war, and nobody will get along very well. Be creative and come up with new ideas, the best threads are ones where people can express their view about something then debate it with others (debate rather than argue). Another type of popular thread is experience threads, what you have done, so if you include pictures please say so in the subject so users will know if they have to wait of pictures to load - make sure your server can handel it as well, a tipical thread with pictures is going to get around 50 hits a day, so get a good server that can handel the damand.
How did they do that?
To centre something on a page, use and
Many of you will find that you can't make a line break after you insert a SWF onto a page (in footer or post) so after you insert a SWF, place in then press enter to create the line break - stupid, but it works.
To make some text small use [small] and [/small].
To make a quote use
and
, to make some code use
and
- for those two commands, you don't need to have lots of line breaks, because the
or
makes a new paragraph for you.
If you want to reply to somebodys post, then you can press "Reply /w Quote" at the bottom of their post to get their post then you can type under it. If it is a long post make the text small by using [small] and [/small], also remove pictures and replace them with the links to the pictures so you don't get lots of pictures loading.
Inserting pictures is easy, just use .
Fore more about these commands and more commands like these read What are vB Codes?
Titles and Avatars
Your title (small text) is written underneath your username on all your posts. Your avatar (little picture) is just under that. To get an avatar you need 100 posts. I know it sounds like a lot, but it wouldn't be worth it if it wasn't! To ask for your avatar and/or title e-mail the webmaster at webmaster@flashkit.com - remember that he is very busy, making FK work better for you, so please don't expect anything like that done quickly, titles and avatars are very low on his list of things to do.
Other Notes
Enjoy your time - everbody here wants to have a laugh and some fun, so keep it clean and enjoy your self. If you ever need to ask a question please do not hesitate to ask, don't be shy, even some of the top guys with 2000 posts still ask questions - but if you really don't want to feel stupid then e-mail one of the moderators, they will not judge you and will help as much as they can. Thank you from the Flash Kit Team
