Scripting Step 3 : Scripting Set Variable: "a"=1 Loop While (A<29) Set Variable: "bar"&a = Random (100) Set Variable: "a" = a+1 End Loop This script will create 28 variables (bar1...bar28) that will hold random values (between 1-100). Each one of these variables will correspond to a green bar in the graph and the value in the variables correspond to the height of the green bars in the graph. On frame 2, layer "actions": place the following script:
Set Variable: "a"=1
Loop While (a<29)
Begin Tell Target ("var"&a)
Goto and Stop (Eval("_level0/:bar"&../:a))
End Tell Target
Set Variable: "a" = a+1
End Loop
This script will display the results in the variables bar1 to bar28. It performs a tell target on each instance of the bar movie clip, jumping to the frame that corresponds to the value and stopping there. Visually if the value is 28, the movie clip will go to frame 28 and the bar will be 28 units high. You have to remember that loops and tell targets have different sets of variables. You must explicitly identify the variables that you intend to work with when you are in loops or tell tagets, so if a = 3 then Eval("_level0/:bar"&../:a) will ultimatly represent the number that is in the variable _level0/:bar3 , the bar3 variable in the main movie timeline (from the last script). For more information on this go though the Macromedia help files under interactivity and check out multiple timelines, and levels etc.)
