Creating a gun in Swift
Introduction
Hi, i've been using swift for about a week or two, and i'm surprised how much i've learned (you can see some of my 3D stuff on www.Newgrounds.com if you search for author, bazzo (the infiltration and robot avenger are my 3D movies). I use Swift v 3.00 but it's unlikely that if you use an older version it will affect the tutorial.
This tut shows you how to make an accurate model of a gun (you could use it to make other objects too!), starting with a picture of the gun, found from the internet. We will be using both flash and Swift on this tutorial.
Required Stuff
A version of Swift 3D
Flash 5 or MX
Getting Started
Ok, first think about what type of gun you want to make. Pistol? AK-47? Remember, not too round, as cylinders dont fit in with this tutorial! ie no rocket launchers. I've made a colt pistol, an AK-47 and an MP5, which all look great.
Made up your mind yet? Great. Go on http://www.google.com, click images and type in the model of gun you want. Browse for a suitable pic: it needs to be completely side-on, not at an angle, and detailed enough. A blueprint-type pic would be great, but just a regular photo is fine. Copy the picture and paste it into flash...
