Of course in this example the result is the same because of you're adding eggs to the start then removing it again from the start.
Creating arrays from other arrays.
For this you use the slice funtion e.g.
groceries=["carrots","sausages","beans"]
groceries[0]="bacon"
groceries.unshift("eggs")
excess=groceries.shift()
meat=groceries.slice(0,2)
//Selects all the items in the array from the position 0 to the position 2
trace(groceries)
trace(excess)
trace(meat)
What arrays are used for:
Well for this example I'll use a magic 8 ball game. To start off draw your magic 8 ball and all that put in an input textbox and a button which will take the movie to the second frame if you can't do this then you shouldn't be doing this tutorial.
On the second frame have a dynamic text box with a variable of "answer".
Now give the second frame the code
answers=["You shall find out soon enough","Yes","No","Maybe","Definitely","Ask Again Later","No,you pervert"]
number=random(answers.length)
_root.answer=answers[number]
stop();
All the code I've used there has already been explained so none further is necessary, I hope.
