After days and days trying to find a simple tutorial to just make a simple animated sound toggle button, I drew a blank. I sat down one day and finally made one myself which I shall share with you.

The method I used could be seen a little too long, but you are welcome to download the tutorial and simply copy and paste the button to your own FLA movies if you have any probs. Just make sure you change the soundtrack that it refers to in the 'SOUND' movieclip (on the first frame).

To begin with simply create a new movie. Then create a new symbol which will be a button and call it 'SOUND'. On the first frame put in a STOP action. Then import your desired sound file and click and drag it onto the frame from the library. Click the 1st frame and look at the properties for it and change the loop times to something like 99. Now make a button called 'SOUND ON' and click and drag it onto the 1st frame. Select only the new 'SOUND ON' button and put in the following actionscript for its action.

on (release) {
on (release) {

Then make a second keyframe (on the 2nd frame) and put in another stop action. Again make another button this time called 'SOUND OFF' and click and drag it onto the 2nd frame. Select this button and put in the following actionscript for its action.

on (release) {

Following these directions will make a NON-animated sound toggle button unless you make an animation (Movieclip) and drag it onto the 'SOUND ON' AND 'SOUND OFF' buttons. Again if in doubt, download the ZIP file and see how it was done.

You may also see that I created on both 'SOUND ON' and 'SOUND OFF' buttons a second layer where I put a white box graphic (with an alpha channel of 0%) so that the surrounding area of the button was clickable and not just the bars and text.

» Description: Hmm... what to say about this one? It's reminiscent of the closing notes of the opening music from the Three Stooges done in a church organ style with a closing cymbal crash. I'll give this one away gratis, but feel free to check out my free loops and potential upcoming license-mandated ones over in the respective part of Flashkit.
