Step 3

So far we have two text fields on the stage and a function on frame 1. Now we're going to "connect" the actionscript with the text field on the stage.

We wanted the empty text field to be updated when the user presses either A or C, this is easily done with a simple If condition. Inside the function we enter this code below the excisting code:

if (char == "A") {
charshow = "Action aborted!";
clearInterval( charID );
}
if (char == "C") {
charshow = "Action approved!";
clearInterval( charID );
}

What this code does is that it checks if the variable char is either A or C. When the user presses A or C it updates the variable charshow. charshow is the variable we gave to the empty text field. The clearInterval stops the function.

Note: Flash doesn't use case sensitivity for this, so be sure to use capital A and C in the code above

Now your actionscript should look like this:
