If you are having problems getting your geustbook to work after reading this tutorial then you might want to check to following things to make sure they are correct.

The path to perl:
In book.cgi the path to perl is set at #!/usr/bin/perl but this might be different for you server and if it is you will need to change it and if you don't know your path to perl then check with your server admin.

Uploading in ascii:
All the files (with the exception of guestbook.swf) need to be up loaded in ascii mode.

Chmoding the files:
Did you chmod all the files correctly? Here is the Chmod's they need:

  • book.cgi (755)
  • kitbook.txt (777 or 666) your choice
  • guestbook.html (755)
  • guestbook.swf (755)
Note: I also re-chmoded book.cgi after I edited it (re-chmoded is that even a word ?)

» Description: Hmm... what to say about this one? It's reminiscent of the closing notes of the opening music from the Three Stooges done in a church organ style with a closing cymbal crash. I'll give this one away gratis, but feel free to check out my free loops and potential upcoming license-mandated ones over in the respective part of Flashkit.
