Introduction

In this tutorial, we will be analyzing a general purpose search and replace string function written in Flash 5 ActionScript.

I believe that string manipulation is a difficult concept for many people to visualize. This is no wonder since even the most simple string manipulation can seem overly complex and mysterious. By the end of this tutorial, it is my hope that you will have conquered the basic concepts of string manipulation.
