Setting the Actions I - Setting the Variables

Click on the frame properties of Frame 1 and then to "Actions". You now need to set the X and Y property of the box. Click on Set Property, the target is "/box", you want to set the "X Position" and the value, which should be an expression (i.e. without quotations), is the current x position of the instance. To determine the current x position, open the object window (Window, Inspectors, Object) and click on the instance. You will then see its size (w and h) and its position (x and y). Set Property Y Position in the same manner. Below are the set properties of the example.

Set Property ("/box", X Position) = 17.5
Set Property ("/box", Y Position) = 14.2

A few variables need to be set at this time also. The original x and y position of the box as well as the w(idth) and h(eight) need to be secured. To set the width and height, do "Set Variable" and name it "origx". "Origx" should equal GetProperty( "/box", _x). The GetProperty is an expression and can be constructed using the expression editor. You need to do the same for the y position: "origy" = GetProperty("/box",_y). To determine the width and height again you use the GetProperty command: in the example the width and height variables have been set to "sizex" and "sizey" respectively. Finally, two more variables to be set which will be used in the next frame - Set Variable: "d" = 1 and Set Variable: "squares" = 9. The Variable "squares" represents the number of boxes you want to appear across your screen. The example uses 9, however, depending on the size of your boxes and the area you want covered, manipulating this number may be necessary. Your actions screen should have these commands written out:

Set Property ("/box", X Position) = 17.5
Set Property ("/box", Y Position) = 14.2
Set Variable: "origx" = GetProperty ( "/box", _x )
Set Variable: "origy" = GetProperty ( "/box", _y )
Set Variable: "sizex" = GetProperty ( "/box" , _width )
Set Variable: "sizey" = GetProperty ( "/box" , _height )
Set Variable: "d" = 1
Set Variable: "squares" = 9
