Create the Counter

Create any shape and convert it into a MovieClip. Place the MovieClip somewhere outside the Scene so that it appears invisible. Click on the MovieClip and open up the Actions Pane. Write the following:

if (_root.startcounter==true)
if (_root.count>=_root.delay)

This will create the counter which will regularly check if the variable 'startcounter' has the value true or not. This variable is set to true when the user clicks for the first time. If it has the value true, the counter will increment the variable 'count' by 1 at a certain rate which is the Movie's Frame Rate. For example, you can change the Movie's Frame Rate (12 by default) to 100 and set the delay to 20. To change the Movie's Frame Rate, select Modify>Document. You can find out the appropriate delay by temporarily inserting a trace statement in the above code as given next:

» Description: Hmm... what to say about this one? It's reminiscent of the closing notes of the opening music from the Three Stooges done in a church organ style with a closing cymbal crash. I'll give this one away gratis, but feel free to check out my free loops and potential upcoming license-mandated ones over in the respective part of Flashkit.
