Ok, after doing this, if you view your movie, the textbox will be empty. How do we make the textbox show the number of hits on our site? Well, this is how!
On frame one of your movie, right click on the frame, or just click and go to Actions.
On the frame's actions, add this:
loadVariablesNum("http://websitename/getdata.php", o, "POST");
Basically all this does is load ALL variables on that URL given. You wil have to change websitename in the url to your website's URL, but make sure you have http:// at the beginning, and /getdata.php at the end! That is manditory! As well, the "POST" is manditory! It makes the php code on the getdata.php page keep repeating itself, so the counter is live.
Now, if you view your movie, there should be a number inside the textbox, but the counter isn't live:( Well, how do we make it live? Like this:
GO back to your movie, and add a second frame, and that's it. But huh? How does just adding a second frame make the counter live? Well, when you add a second frame, the movie continuously replays itself, and so, each time it passes over frame one, it re-loads akk variables with the loadVariablesNum function, and that is how it becomes a live counter!
PHew, we are finished! I hope everyone enjoyed reading this tutorial, and now completely grasps how to make a live hits counter! I also wrote another tutorial, Easy Preloader Bar! Remember, if you have any questions, AIM me at MasnaX! Also, download the ZIP file to help you out!
