I'm sure half of you are bewildered, wondering what in the world that coding means or does. Well, for that, I'll explain it!
First, we open a php code with :
Then, to be able to access your SQL Database, you need to include that file we saved before, the 'db.php' file, so we include it in the php file with this
include'db.php';
Next we select all information (*) from the totalhits table in the database with this SQL:
$sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM totalhits");
Then, we put the information selected with the $sql variable into an array with this:
$row = mysql_fecth_array($sql);
After doing that, we assign a new variable named "newhits", which is the variable which adds a hit each time the code is triggered:
$newhits = $row['hits'] + 1;
Once we've done all of that, we UPDATE the table to the new number of hits with this:
mysql_query("UPDATE totalhits SET hits='$newhits'") or die (mysql_error());
