Layout

Now it's time to set up your clock layout. Using the type tool, type your arrangement of placeholder zeros and colons (you can use any character as your delimiter, I used colons in the example). Once you have your layout, select your text field and go to the text options tab. Check the dynamic text option, and set the variable name to code.

NOTE: These placeholder digits will be replaced by your script with the real time/date, but typing them in now really helps when you are trying to find a place for the clock in your layout.
With your variable text field selected hit F8 or go to Insert > Convert to Symbol - Name the symbol clock and select movie clip for its behavior.
