Step 8: Creating the Thank You Frame
When our users select the submit button they will be taken to the personal thank you page. The thank you frame will basically say, "Thanks", and then display the user's first name. So it might read like this, "Thanks Dude" (that's if Dude is entered in the First Name field).
Okay so, right click on the layer named Titles and select Lock Others to allow us to focus on just the layer we're working on. Click on frame 2 in the timeline and click the F8 key. This will create a new key frame.
When the user selects the submit button the action script is telling Flash to go to the frame named "ThankYou" so this is what we must name this frame. Go to frame number 2 and select any frame. Open your frame panel (Window | Panels | Frames) and enter "ThankYou" in the "Label" field.

We don't want anything on this frame except the text "Thanks" and the user's name so delete anything that's in that frame. Use a large typeface and type "Thanks". I used veranda 80 points, bold.

Right click on the layer named "Text Fields" and select Lock Others. Click on frame 2 in the timeline and click the F8 key to create a keyframe. We don't want anything in this frame so select any objects and delete them. Select the Text tool and click under the thanks text. Open your Text Options panel and select Input Text from the text type pull down menu. Select Single Line from your line type, and type in "FirstName" in the Variable field. This will display any value that was entered in the First Name field of our form.

Select the Input Text field and use a smaller font size than the thanks text. I used veranda, 35 points, bold. The Input Text field will appear on your canvas as dashed lines.

That about does it. Save your Flash file and export the swf. If your using Flash 5 make sure you export this file as a Flash 4. More people have the Flash 4 plugin compared to the Flash 5 plugin. Whenever possible export your swf file as a lower version of Flash. I hope this tutorial was helpful. If you have any questions we can try to help. Contact us at support@thewebprojects.com.
