Step 7 : Detect when the level ends:

From now on all Steps are up to you, it is possible just to leave the game like that and not improve but, it would be very bland. The next part to add is the counter to detect if and when you have finished the level. In the main scene set up a new layer called Timer make sure that it lasts for at least 2 frames, and then drag the rest of the movie clips up so they last for the same amount of time. On this new layer draw a textfield and call it timer. In the textfield you should type the amount of time you want it to last for for example i have typed in 200, and then it counts down from this figure. On the Timer layer set the following properties

Set Variable: "Timer" = timer - 1

Now when you play the game this should go decrease by one and the speed will depend upon how many frames the timer covers, as each time the timeline loops it will perform that action, making a very simple counter for your program.

» Description: Hmm... what to say about this one? It's reminiscent of the closing notes of the opening music from the Three Stooges done in a church organ style with a closing cymbal crash. I'll give this one away gratis, but feel free to check out my free loops and potential upcoming license-mandated ones over in the respective part of Flashkit.
