Next you need to create a movie clip called "button up" and paste in it the second half of the animation from the button template movie clip. Then, just like in the "button over" movie clip, you need to put a stop in the last frame of the animation.
Finally we get to make our button. Create a new button symbol and put the "button up" movie clip in the up frame of the button. Insert a blank key frame in the over frame of the button and insert the "button over" clip into that frame. Insert a blank key frame in the down frame of the button and put the "button up" clip in that frame. Finally draw a shape in the hit area of the button the same size as the movie clips (for my button I just copied and pasted in place the gradient rectangle from one of my movie clips). Of course you should make sure to align all the clips to the center of the stage.
So the button is complete. Drag it out onto your stage, resize the movie so that it's the same size as the button and give it a try.
