Import into Flash
You should now open Flash. In this example we will use Flash 5 for Windows 98. You could use Flash 4 if you wanted to instead. We only use Flash 5 because it is the latest version.
Use the default movie that is opened at the start. Make sure to save it somewhere on your hard drive from the start. The very first thing to do is to create a new symbol within the main movie. Call the movie "star_spike" and make it a "Movie Clip" type of symbol.

After clicking the "OK" button you should be editing the symbol directly.
From the very first frame on the only timeline, choose the "File" tab located in the top left of the main program window. From the option in the the dropdown menu, choose "Import....".
After you import the Shockwave (.SWF) file into your movie, the main program window should look like the screenshot below. Don't worry about the symbol not being aligned with the centre of the stage. Since you are within a symbol that we will not rotate, it will be ok for this example. There will be many times where you will want to align the graphic within a symbol. You can do this by double embedding the imported frames into a movie.
