Flash Ticker Instance Model
Author: Joshua Sullivan
| Website: http://www.metagamer.com/ |
Actionscript (cont.)
Frame 4 - Label: ticker loop
Call ("move_ticker")
Frame 5:
Call ("move_ticker")
Go to and Play ("ticker loop")
Frame 6 - Label: move_ticker
Comment: The first action is to check if it is time to "loop" the ticker.
If ((triple_group:_x - (base_speed * /:multiplier)) start_x + loop_width)
Set Property ("triple_group", X Position) = triple_group:_x - loop_width
End If
Comment: Regardless of whether or not we needed to loop, move the ticker.
Set Property ("triple_group", X Position) = triple_group:_x - (base_speed * /:multiplier)
The if statement just checks if the ticker needs to be jumped. The top if is for forward movement, the bottom is for reverse movement. The final line moves the ticker every frame, and doesn't care if any jumping was neccesary. Note the use of the "/:multiplier" variable... it is what simplifies the speed changing, stopping, and reversing that this ticker is capable of. It is set to 1 by default, since multiplying the base_speed by 1 results in no change.
