The Interface

Below you will see the interface of 3D Studio Max r.3. Starting at the top of the screen shot, you should see the main graphic toolbar represented by a series of pictures. You should also notice tabs running along the top of the graphic toolbar. These tabs allow you to access other tool: Objects, Shapes, Compounds, Lights and Cameras, Particles, Helpers, Space Warps, Modifiers, Modeling and Rendering. Each one of these toolbars will have it's own tutorial in the weeks to come.

Along the right side you have a secondary text toolbar. All the tools that are in the graphic toolbar can also be accessed through here. 3D Studio Max r.1 did not have the graphic toolbar along the top and all tools were accessed through this text only toolbar.

Note: When you make a selection from the graphic toolbar or select an object, all parameters are set and modified in the text toolbar on the right.
