| »Description | Because some of the other scrolling textboxes freely available failed to meet my requirements of usability, I wrote this simple and re-usable flash component. I believe it is fairly fast on all speed computers and can be used alone or published and then imported into an existing swf file. Its implementation is fairly straight forward - open the .fla and modify the text in the Text movie (located in the library. Customize the following components to match your color scheme: dragBarMovie invisDragButton (hit frame) scrollMovie textMovieShould you want to change the width parameters, no modifications are necessary (unless you change the y-coord of the element placement).Should you want to change the height parameters, adjust the mHeight variable in the first keyframe in the main movie timeline to reflect the height of the textbox (which must also match the size of the scroll bar in this implementation). You may also need to adjust the integer value in the third keyframe in the main movie timeline. I could have assigned a variable, but the overhead for it's one use would not have been justified.Future permutations and ideas:- In-trench clicking (similar to most window-based OSs)- Add up & down arrow buttons at the top and bottom of the scroll area- Make the scroll unit a variable height in relation to the textbox area |
